Emergency Medical Travel Insurance We understand that an unforeseen medical emergency can lead to large, out-of-pocket expenses and an early end to your vacation. Emergency Medical Travel Insurance takes the stress out of travelling by making sure you're covered: Emergency medical coverage up to $5 million (CAD) This plan covers you for up to $5 million CAD for: emergency medical treatment including ambulance (ground and air),hospital stays and physician's fees plus services prescribed by the physician such as laboratory tests and x-rays, private-duty nursing during hospitalization, prescriptions and wheelchair rentals and much more. Emergency dental expenses This benefit provides coverage to: a) repair or replace sound natural or permanently attached teeth as a result of an accidental blow to the face up to the policy limit; b) continue treatment for a) above upon returning home up to $2,000; and cover up to $500 for other emergency dental treatment at trip destination (excluding root canals). Return of vehicle This benefit provides reasonable expenses for the return of your private or rental vehicle in the event of your medical incapacitation, hospitalization or death on a trip following your hospitalization or accidental death. Also provides repatriation of the Insured if private vehicle is stolen or inoperable due to an accident. Family transportation This benefit provides for a return economy fare of an immediate family member or friend to attend your bedside, provided your hospitalization lasts at least 3 consecutive days (provided immediately if you are physically or mentally handicapped or under 26 years old and dependent for support on the visiting family member). Also provides up to $1,500 ($300 per day) for commercial meals and accommodation, essential taxis, laundry and telephone calls, along with Emergency Medical Insurance for the visiting family member or friend. Subsistence allowance This benefit provides up to $3,500 ($350 per day) for commercial meals and accommodation, essential taxis, laundry and telephone calls, if your return is delayed more than 10 days beyond the return date due to: a) sickness or injury of you, an accompanying family member or travel companion; or b) an accompanying family member or travel companion or you must be relocated for the purpose of obtaining treatment for a medical emergency. Medical repatriation This benefit provides for coverage in the event of a medical emergency for: a) up to the cost of a one-way economy airfare to your Canadian province or territory of residence; or b) the fare for additional airline seats to accommodate your stretcher to your Canadian province or territory of residence; or c) medical air evacuation to the nearest hospital or to a hospital in your Canadian province or territory of residence; and d) repatriation to the point of departure of one travel companion or one family member in the event of your medical repatriation; and e) return economy airfare and overnight lodging and meals for a qualified medical attendant to accompany you to your Canadian province or territory of residence. Escort and return of insured children This benefit provides, in the event an insured parent or legal guardian on the trip, for a) organization, escort and payment for a one-way economy airfare for return of the insured children or grandchildren, under the age of 19 unless mentally or physically handicapped; or b) the services of a caregiver contracted by you for your insured children or grandchildren under the age of 19 unless mentally or physically handicapped. Return of remains This benefit provides for coverage in the event of your death on a trip following your hospitalization or accidental death: a) actual cost for preparation of the deceased insured and return of the deceased insured in the common carrierís standard transportation container to the scheduled point of departure; or b) up to $5,000 for burial or cremation at the place of death. Also provides return transportation for an immediate family member or close friend to identify the deceased insured, Emergency Medical Insurance for 3 days for the person identifying the deceased insured, along with a maximum of $300 per day for 3 days for commercial meals and accommodation, essential taxis, and telephone calls. Travel Accident This plan covers you for death or dismemberment as a result of an injury incurred during your trip and includes: flight accident, common carrier accident and 24-hour accident for up to the amount you insure for loss of life, dismemberment of two limbs or loss of sight in both eyes or up to 50% of the amount you insure for dismemberment of one limb or loss of sight in one eye. Baggage Insurance This plan covers you for loss or damage to your baggage and personal effects, you own and/or use during your trip, due to theft, burglary, fire or transportation hazards and includes: a maximum of $50 for replacing a lost/stolen driverís license, birth certificate or travel visa ($200 for replacement of a passport), a maximum of $500 for commercial rental of golf clubs or ski equipment and a maximum of $500 to purchase essential necessities in the event your checked baggage is delayed.
